Who We Serve
McIntosh Trail's Meals On Wheels serves persons who are homebound, unable to prepare a nutritious meal, and
do not have anyone able to prepare a nutritious meal on a regular basis.
The vast majority of MOW recipients
are over 70 years of age and low income. However, there is not an income requirement to receive Meals on Wheels. For
those recipients who are able to pay, we charge a $3.75 fee for each meal.
Eligibility
To be eligible for Meals On Wheels a person
must be homebound, unable to prepare a nutritious meal, and not have anyone able to prepare a nutritious meal on a regular
basis. Nutrition programs are provided through the
area senior center for each county.
Application Process
Anyone may recommend a person to be considered for receiving
Meals On Wheels. Most of our referrals come from family members, friends, McIntosh Trail Management Services, Southern
Crescent AAA, or the clients themselves. To receive Meals On Wheels, clients or families of clients who are seeking funding
for meals should contact Southern Crescent AAA at 770-854-6026 or (toll free) 1-866-854-5652. At the time of the
referral call, Southern Crescent will obtain information about the client's health problems as well as his/her date of birth,
social security number, doctor's name and phone number, emergency contact persons and phone numbers, and other pertinent
information to determine nutritional and funding needs. In turn, the Council on Aging for McIntosh Trail,
Inc. will interview the client, assess his/her needs and begin the program.
